Praise the Lord!  We had another great day of worship yesterday in our church.  In the morning service we had an all-ladies choir, because we were observing in WMU Focus Day.  Susan LaBoone, our WMU Director, talked for a few moments on the theme, “The Story Lives On,” and then introduced our speakers, her brother, Dr. Danny Grover and his wife Amy.  Dr. Grover is a local physician.  He and his wife spoke about a recent medical mission trip to Africa, and showed a slide presentation.  They announced that they are being led of the Lord to go back  to Africa and serve again this coming summer.  The service was well attended, and God was honored in all that took place.

In the evening service, Rhonda Hesson sang, and I preached a message from Ecclesiastes 7:15-8:1.  The message revealed that we must guard against being self-righteous, proud, and over-indulgent in sin.  Instead, we must be wise.  True godly wisdom will help us overcome these destructive ways of life, and this wisdom comes from growing spiritually in the Lord.  I quoted Proverbs 1:7, which says, “The fear of the Lord is the begining of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”  The sermon concluded by letting us all know that a wise God-fearing, spirit-filled and growing Christian, will be evidenced by the expression on the face, and a consistently changed way of living for the Lord.

I also promoted and encouraged prayer for our upcoming community revival in both services, of which we’re all excited, and looking forward too.

We have great things going on in our church.  Our youth group went to Winter Jam at the BiLo Center last Friday, and enjoyed it very much; and we’re going to have a valentine party for them and our children this coming Wednesday.  And the Jolly Seniors are going to eat breakfast at IHOP in Anderson this Tuesday.  If you’re looking for a church, we’d sure love to have you worship and fellowship with us.

God bless you!
